To get a visa allowing you to work, you would need an employer to sponsor your visa application. You seem very desperate to go to Japan, Paige. Why not go for a long holiday first to see if you like it. If you really want to emigrate you have to at least have a degree. Look at the Ministry of Foreign affairs website. As you can see the visa criteria is very strict. http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/

You need a "real" job in Japan.

You need a Japanese company to sponsor you if you want to live in Japan. Either that or you need to be married to a Japanese person. Have you ever been to Japan? I suggest you take a tourist trip there first for the full 90 days to see if it's the place for you. Many people are misinformed thinking people speak English in Japan but they don't. They also think Japan is like it is in anime and manga, which also couldn't be further from the truth in most cases.

I don't think you can get a working visa of Japan by making money online. If you have another visa, it's possible to live in Japan.
5 :
Not unless you're married to a Japanese citizen. I know an American who lives in a rural part of Japan and works for an American company online. He is, however, married to a Japanese woman he met while he was working here as an English teacher.
6 :
No, it is NOT possible. Now, run along.

Input your answer here. Hi paige, A new idea-see if it suits.

No. You are making good money where you are living, but that does not translate to the same thing if you were living in Japan. Before you can live as a permanent resident in Japan, you have to prove that: 1) You can function in Japanese society; i.e. speak the language 2) You will not be a drain on the welfare program; i.e. educated with a college degree and have a job. 3) You have no criminal record.

Can I make money in Japan?

Can I make money in Japan?
I'm currently in Tokyo, Japan studying at my college's sister school. I was wondering if it was possible for me to make money on the side legally while I'm in Japan. I'll be here for a little over three months on my student visa. Thanks! I have money to live but I'd like a little bit of spending money, is there a way for me to make between five and ten thousand yen? I just don't want to violate any visa laws, I know I'm not allowed to have a job without the work visa. And I only speak a little bit of Japanese.

I believe that you can legally work for 20 hours a week on a student visa (unless that's changed since I had one). If your Japanese isn't so good you might find it difficult to get a part-time job, but then, if you can get one, your Japanese will improve :D If you have the time, you could always tutor some people privately in English. Try a website like http://www.findateacher.net/

You can get a work permit. http://www.moj.go.jp/ONLINE/IMMIGRATION/16-8.html The official name of the permit is "permission to engage in activity other than that permitted under the status of residency previously granted." You need a valid student visa and alien registration card for the application. Good luck competing with the high school kids to flip burgers at McDonald's.

Say what? "my college's sister school"? what the heck is that??!?!?! i dont think you can make money if you dont speak japanese. maybe you can sit on the side walks and get a cup and wait for people to drop money.. have a sign too like "okane ga arimasen, anata ni okane wo kureru koto ga dekimasu, kudasai ne" "i dont have money, can you please give me money?"

Go to the regional immigration office to apply your temporary work with detailed contract. You will be approved if all documents are well prepared enough to get part-time job. Without the permission, your side business will be illegal.

Could I get enough money in Japan if I were an architect? And if not what job could I do to make enough money?

Could I get enough money in Japan if I were an architect? And if not what job could I do to make enough money?
If I were to be a foreign exchange student to Japan from the United States, would I be able to obtain enough money in that line of work to live comfortably? (decent apartment, enough food, water, and maybe some other luxuries like internet and phone.)

a study visa has some pretty strict restrictions to what kind of work/how much work you can do.
2 :
Please understand that foreign exchange student is not someone who can earn money. If you want to earn, you have to graduate from school and find a job. It's not realistic to think that you can be an architect in Japan. It's difficult even for Japanese to become an architect. You must pass architect exam which is very hard. But if you become, you can earn enough. If you just want to have (decent apartment, enough food, water, and maybe some other luxuries like internet and phone.), it's enough even if you are working as English teacher. What's really expensive in Japan is education of children. So if you want to marry and have children in Japan, you must have better jobs.

If you have never been there...I wouldn't count on it...it is a "who-you-know" society. Small island + lots of people = lots of competion...
