Why do governments spend more money to find, buy n improve technology to kill people than to make them live?

Why do governments spend more money to find, buy n improve technology to kill people than to make them live?
Whn ppl are dieing of hunger, of diseases, why does the US, CANADA, UK, CHINA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, VENEZULA, RUSSIA and all countries of this world where “people” of the same human race live invest for guns, warships etc. to kill and draw blood of their own race speaking a different language, religion or skin color. Is it wrth it? Why do we do it? Why do we have to let this continue? Ppl die without food, without medicine. Isn’t it time we undrstnd? Why can’t we all be like brothers and sisters and share this world together? Would it ever happen and when do we decide to make the change? Humans breathe, they eat, laugh, cry, love, understand, hate, forgive. Every human lvng and dead has done so at least 1’ce in their lives. Why can’t we make a change and for change make humanity #1? Spend so that ppl get to live longer, happily with all their material, social and spiritual needs satisfied? Why does medicare comes at a cost and bullets to heads for free? Is violence the wepon to quell violence? If I'm in a different opinion, is elimination the answer? What has happened to compassion? I don't want to foreget 9/11 but how many people killed would capture osama? Are we really there yet? Is this working? Is the world any safer? At least a bit? Now are the freaking terrorist not trying to behead others anymore? Have we stopped them? Are we effective? Am I asking too many questions? I don't belive that once osama's stopped the world would become any safer at all. I think if we try more compassion and love, kindness, forgiveness, we might stop the violence. Love and peace comes only bythemselve... through love and peace. No gun is powerful enough to bring peace on earth, no technology advance to do the trick. Peace is a decision we have to make, at heart, in action. Is billions and billions of dollars on medicare and many more on killing an answer or an illusion?....

It's true that governments do spend too much on weapons. But I wonder if they spend more on that than on other things. Do you have the numbers?

dead people can't blow you up

The Kennedys tried to do just that.Bring peace to the world and bring justice and freedom to the people of the United States but The Skull and Bones club had them both assasinated so they could conquer the world for oil and profit and its still going on today.
4 :
Couple of things. (a) Some of the nations where innocent people are dying from hunger, disease, etc., have been screwed by their own government. Foreign nations have given them food, water, money, etc. Ay, but this never makes it to the people. Instead, governments have used the food and water to feed their army, money to buy themselves private jets, etc. So, its their own fault for letting their people die. Not ours. So stop asking for so much money! (b) At what cost does this come to us? You are talking about lending out an insane amount of money worldwide, enough to change how we live ourselves. Not every nation is as well off or as rich as it seems. Every nation has a debt, and its not everyones fault. Blame the rich! They are the ones getting richer, while the poor get poorer. (c) World is constantly at war. There seemingly is one threat after another of an impending war, and the only way to survive is to arm yourself. (d) Sadly, it makes better news. More people are keen on hearing about war, military, violence, and all that stuff, then good humanitarian acts.

Becuase they are run by men who MUST have bigger, badder "toys" than anyone else in the world to "prove" thier status. If Women ran the countries, more money WOULD be spent on Humanitarian issues than creating war, because women VALUE their children and aren't interested in sacrificing thier lives for the sake of lining thier pockets with the almighty dollar.

Because the people, who are in power always feel insecurity in themselves and such feeling motivates them to develop the technology of destruction, hence the government under control of such people spend more funds.
7 :
Because little children loves playing with computer and video games on planet earth. So they always ask daddy to buy the latest models that is available on the streets on planet earth. When they were at loss with loss of I.Q. - human intelligent. Could no longer outsmart another living human kind on planet earth.
8 :
This is history. Nations do not trust each other. Innocent people are sufferers. Self interest of rulers, to gain superiority over other nations and fear of attack has compelled nations to pile weapons more than enough to destroy the universe. The problem is too complex and in near future there is no hope that governments will come to senses.

The goal of any political leader is the protection of his people. This is a mind set that has been a part of politics since people first began building walls around their settlements. To overcome this human ideal is no small task. 5000 years of semi-success has kept the arms race a constant. Of course, we know that there is always someone stronger who comes along, who later is taken down by someone strong then they. I believe that until we can learn compassion and empathy, wars will still occur. This is no easy task. It starts with teaching the young, as well as ourselves. And, it won't happen overnight. It will probably take many generations, but as the saying goes, "there's no time like the present."

The good ole U.S.A. spends billions and billions each year on medical research, presciption drugs, medical treatment, medicare, and medicaid. We have even built hospitals in Iraq. We could cure every disease known to man but if we don't eliminate the bin laden types of the world our heads will land in our laps. Is it worth spending billions more to kick the s*** out of those who want to FREAKING BEHEAD US!?!?!?! You bet it is!!

Around how much money do foreign English teachers make?

Around how much money do foreign English teachers make?
If they work in Japan and have a degree? Sorry if I got anything wrong. I'm only fourteen, so I don't know too much about university, I guess........ I'm only fourteen right now, so it'll still be a while. That's assuming that I'll still have the same plan in a few years....

they make anywhere from 1,300 USD to about 2,700 USD, but if you're just getting started I'd say like 17,000 to start. The big school provide living quarters, but you still have to pay an arm and leg for it. If you're going to Japan to make money, I'd think twice. But you're going there for the experience, you'll have a great time and should have sufficient money to enjoy things.

I'm currently teaching in Japan on the JET Program (4th year). I receive 300,000 yen a month, and once tax, insurance and retirement is taken from that, I get 260,000. Which is about 2600 dollars, I think. Before having my child, I was saving 50,000 - 100,000 of that easily per month.

Possible to make it in Japan?

Possible to make it in Japan?
Is it possible to make it in Japan as a student at a language school? I want to know If I'll be able to survive with all of the living expenses to the amount of money I will be making working part time. My tuition will be payed for, my ticket will be payed for, but will work alone be enough to support myself? How many hours of English could I realistically teach (within the 28 hour limit of student visa) Would I be able to teach 28 hours in a week? how hard would It be to find students (I'm going to be teaching private lessons.) And yes I have a decent level of Japanese, and I have some experience in teaching English (taught volunteer ESL for a year in the US.) I want to be self sustained, without receiving any outside funding.

Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it

If you mean finding private students on your own and teaching them and making a living on that alone, sorry but that is UNREALISTIC. Realistically going that route might yield 1-3 hours of private students. I've met a good number of people who think they can come over and be kings in finding private students, realistically that's only a fantasy world. I recommend you work through a contract with a company (other then GABA). If you worked through a company that assigned you students, that might be a bit more realistic, however don't expect all 28 hours to be filled up and a lot of down time. Also that and balancing school is difficult (I KNOW because I did it myself). Teaching private students is the worst thing out there. They cancel, you don't get paid, they don't show up, you don't get paid. These situations happen a lot too. If you work for a company and have a contract to teach a class (usually you are better in that regards because you know you are "probably" going to get paid) vs a private student who might/might not show up. Again depends on the terms of the contracts, but in this economy not everyone is lining up to take English courses like they were back in the 1980s. READ YOUR CONTRACTs! Cannot stress that enough. If you have a decent level of Japanese try for even steadier work at a restaurant. At least you are virtually guaranteed pay with steady hours. I had a friend who also worked inside a hotel (cleaning) because they couldn't sustain language instruction (with private students alone). It would also depend on your life style. Part-time is usually not enough to sustain someone, unless you lived frugal or with a roommate or in a hostel. If you mean in a private apartment, by yourself, then that's difficult.
3 :
Well, it depends on your hourly wage (part-time job is usually hourly in Japan). Usually, you can't. But you might earn more than average as an English teacher.
4 :
If I understood you correctly, you want to support yourself while going through language school in Japan? Unfortunately this is not possible. You will be on a student visa and most people won't hire you because you can't work more than 20 hours a week. Some of my friends over there worked while in college but they got 2-3 hours teaching max. Your best bet is to either save money and go or just skip the school part all together and go there to work. Why is it that there are streets of ryokans (small hotels) in Japan, that won't allow westerners to stay there?

Why is it that there are streets of ryokans (small hotels) in Japan, that won't allow westerners to stay there?
It appears to be racism, although I realize that they could be unfamilar with westerners and find it easier to stick to people they are familar with. However, I think it is extreme racism. I say extreme, because one doesn't usually turn down the chance to do business and make money.

Asia is just know starting to open to foreigners.
2 :
Probably because westerners don't understand about sharing the room they've paid for with complete strangers. Westerners don't like having to walk down the corridor to the toilet, only to find that someone's already in there. Westerners don't enjoy sharing bathing facilities, nor do most of us understand the rules and etiquette. It's not racism, it's self-protection.
3 :
Not to be racist, but most westeners have no manners. the Japanese customers get annoyed, and may start complaining to the ryokan.the ryokan loses money/customer. it only makes buisiness sense to refuse service to western customers.don't consider it a race thing, but more like a manner thing. We Japanese people have very high expectations when it comes to manners/customer service
4 :
Are there? Well, if there are, one reason could be that they do not speak English and can't treat Westerners.
