do photographers make money in japan??
im An Art Student who will soon be graduating and i want to become a cartoonist or work with manga/anime im working on photography right now and i was woundering do they make good money in japan ?? and if so how could i get a contact?

Not legally. Their treasury dept. makes the money. Photographers earn it.

Unfortunately, the japanese have desigated several industries as not receiving any compensation. Bakers Crane Operators Photographers Etc. Sorry for the bad news.

There is a need for photographers there just like there is anywhere else in the world. As for how much money they make, I don't know. I think you should come to Japan as a tourist, study the langauge and do some research. Good luck.

I think they work for free also is being a photographer awsome Im 14 and Im really into taking pics of anything that catches my eye

You would need to be able to read, write, and speak Japanese to do that.

dont have time for a long reply, but they do quite well. Every child, due to tradition gets their photo taken at aged 3, 7 etc. Plus school events and stuff, so every child in the photo will want a copy. I have a friend who has been running their store for many generations now, the current owner is like fifth generation. money bags Id think.

Even down in Kagoshima amateur photographers are a dime a dozen. If you want to be a pro, there is not much in terms of high profile work, but the private studio business is quite popular. As a foreigner, without an established name, it would really be difficult for you to break into the business. What kind of photography are you talking about? Portrait? Still? Nature? Art?

Learn Japanese first. Most of the ppl in the industry do not speak English.

yess they make A LOT of money in Japan. Visitors in Japan will buy it off you if it is good and it shows a little bit of Japan!
