I need help with eBay Money making?

I need help with eBay Money making?
I don't know what to do at this point. I want to make money with eBay, possibly with a wholesaling way. And no Clickbank stuff, I don't want it lol. I did go to a AliBaba.com and found a sweet PS3 console wholesale deal, but all they take is wire transfers and Western Union payments, which I cannot make as I am 16. I want to do something in wholesale as I am running out of stuff in the house to sell and I have some other ideas but for now I need organization. House stuff to sell is limited and unreliable, where as a wholesaler with an essentially unlimited amount of stuff from which I can buy as much as I want if I can pay for it. Long Story Short: I would like to know of a legitimate wholesaler who sells respectable PPS(Profit Per Sale) and doesn't have to be, but something related to gaming as I have been told to sell something related to a personal passion, and that is it lol. It doesn't have to be, but if it has a good(as mentioned before) PPS I can work with it. No Google Bots or spammers please, I want replies from someone like me, just a regular person selling on ebay from home, who sells wholesale items. And if you are worried about competition if you are a power seller, don't worry lol. I am no threat competition-wise, I would take 3 figures a month if I could get that lol, I just need to get out of a personal debt to one of my parents and some more money to send to Japan and improve my life and the people's lives about me. Thank You and God Bless!

Well, you're lucky you couldn't make the Ali-Baba deal - sounds like a scam to me ( and I AM a powerseller). Never, never, EVER pay with Western Union - you ought to know that by now. I doubt that you have the cash resources to access wholesalers and you'd need a retailler's tax number to get any good ones, so I'd forget that for now. You might want to look around and see if there's something unique to your area that you might be able to buy and sell, though. For example, many people are making good money because they live next to one of the Disney Worlds - they take orders, go into the stores, buy the stuff and mail it out to the people that can't make it there or want to buy something they missed buying before. Disney licences them to do this. For gaming ( which I wouldn't touch for anything, btw - too many scams), you could look for LOTS on ebay itself, but I doubt you'd make much. There are also liquidation outlets that sell returned games but, again, you'd have to invest thousands of dollars and the quality is going to be iffy.
2 :
um....i think you can try www.buybuybuy.com and www.craiglist.com, both site have people selling and buyng stuffs cheap. I heard Bbb has a very strict rating for its buyers too. and um...you should also try to contact some inventory liquidator. or just google the word ' liquidation inventory', good luck!

How much for a call to Japan cost per minute by landlines, and how would I have to hit in the phone number?
I'm making a call to Japan from the United States, and I need to know how much money I'd have to pay per minute. And if it depends on my phone company, then what's the average amount of money per minute? Also, when I hit the phone number into my phone, what other things should I add to it?

The site below will explain how to make an international phone call. How much it costs depends on how you make the call. You can buy a international phone card & get rates as low as 6 cents a minute and lower.Japan is 011-81, then the number. If they have a computer you can call computer to computer for free. All you need is a service like Skype or AIM, yahoo messenger, or windows live.

Why are we still in Europe, South Korea, and Japan?

Why are we still in Europe, South Korea, and Japan?
Why do we have over 100,000 troops in Europe? The russian ground forces are in total shambles. The European nations have a larger population and economy when combined than the US. Let them defend themselves, the cold war is over!! It would take the Russian government a decade or more to even assemble a force that could take back its old satellites, much less invade Europe. South Korea has five times the population of North Korea and at least 40 times the economy. Can't they defend themselves? China is no longer backing North Korea so don't use that argument. They are happy making lots of money and don't want a conflict. And of course japan can defend themselves. The US last year spent 50% of ALL the world's military spending. No wonder when we spend over $100 billion a year defending countries that can defend themselves. We need to just focus on OUR interests. The founding fathers would be ashamed that we have become the world's police.

punch in "north korea is dark" and it will give you your answer... My dad served in Korea, I'd like to think that he had a good part in creating what you will see.
2 :
to train our troops in that environment..to be that much closer when shit hits the fan, to have a place to deploy to, to ward off attacks, to protect our allies
3 :
Japan, to some extent, wasn't allowed to defend themselves which was what made them such a force in the electronics industry- the money they would've spent for their military went into electronics. Our initial purpose for being there is likely not the same reason why we stay. Get over it.
4 :
I agree. Personally, I'd sit our soldiers and tanks and helicopters on the border(s), secure our ports, and defend this nation and let others fend for themselves. I'd continue participating in the peace corps and have UN troops, but no more American troops on foreign soil unless we are attacked. Had we focused exclusively on Afghanistan Bin Laden would have been killed and the Taliban would be gone and we'd have been home by now. Instead, we leave the screen door off it's hinges at home and defend other nations capable of self-defense. And what is the UN for if it doesn't take over the serious role of peacekeeping?
5 :
The better to keep our finger on the pulse of the empire. Except that we have no one in the current administration smart enough to read that pulse. Or honest enough to admit there's an empire.
6 :
The Cold War is not over. China is as dangerous as it has ever been and North Korea is trying to become a nuclear power - and it's an extremely hostile regime. Japan, as much as I love the Country, may be heading towards a return to martial traditions beginning with the rebuilding of a navy with offensive power. Since the Russian government murdered Alexander Litvinenko in Britain and been publicly shamed after being found out, Russia has been saber-rattling by flying military aircraft into European airspace - a clear sign of belligerence.
7 :
Splendidly put. I agree with you 100% percent on all but one issue. Japan. The reason we're in Japan is because they have no military. The reason they have no military is because we took theirs away after world war II to make sure a military faction never again took control over the country. And a big reason that Japan has come so far so fast, is because they are able to concentrate their money on their economy without spending much on defense. If we were to take our troops out of Japan we'd have to make sure they actually could defend themselves first, plus we'd be losing an invaluable position in case we ever have to fight a war anywhere in the pacific or Asia. (ie China, North Korea, etc) It's a good idea to have a few staging area's around the world where we can set up shop if we have to.
8 :
I think its more of strategic positioning to protect american interests rather than them protecting this countries. The U.S provides all of the weapons for the countries they have bases in. Your question should be how much money is the U.S making from supplying europe and the rest of its allies with all this arsenals? They are there to make sure the other countries dont penetrate the arms market.honestly from korea to Philippines to Poland and Mexico its all U.S weapons.
9 :
Military spending makes money for the people in power, not so much the politicians, though some of them are smart enough to be in on it, but the real power brokers who own the politicians.

How do I file the tax return if 50% of the profit need to give to my partner in Japan?

How do I file the tax return if 50% of the profit need to give to my partner in Japan?
I started an online businees one year ago and at that time I don't have any money so my relative who was willing to support me and give me the start up money about US$10000 for starting and we both agree that if we make profit, I only take either 50% or maximum US$5000 monthly. And the rest of the profit will T/T wire to him in Japan. How can I report this tax, do I need to pay taxes on the money I wire to this partner, can I claim that is an expense. Please help me. I don't want to be illegal but I also don't want to pay too much tax.

If you established a partnership, money you send him is not an expense. It's a partner's distribution. It will reduce his basis. It is not taxable to him unless his distributions exceed his basis. The money you send him is not taxable to you either. You should be filing partnership tax returns to report your income and expenses. You need an accountant.

Religiously speaking, can sending a paypal money request make me vulnerable to be cheated by the payer?

Religiously speaking, can sending a paypal money request make me vulnerable to be cheated by the payer?
Ok, sorry if you've seen my question on this already, but.. I sold a car to someone in Japan (I know that has scam written all over it, but it is a luxury SUV which can not be purchased in Japan which is why it's easy for me to believe it would be purchased by an international buyer) So I need to send a Paypal money request to the buyer, but I am wondering if that would open a window or give any information to the recipient which could be used to cheat me? Just so you know, it's not the prince of Nigeria, and I have not been prompted to pay anything in advance or return. I will not ship the vehicle until the money is safely in my bank account. I just want to know if any of the information shown in the request could be used against me. Thanks. Thanks for your answers. If I get cheated, I'm holding you all responsible and sending you all Paypal money requests.

2 :
No. It's safe.
3 :
Get a friend to send you Paypal request for a dollar and see what happens. Paypal is the *safest* form of payment in existence. There's no information exchanged besides the money, ever.
4 :
Security is a fairy tale.
5 :
If you send the request through the eBay/PayPal system there is no personal information provided to the buyer. I have a feeling you are going to find doing the customs paperwork a lot of trouble and when the buyer gets that, he will know your name and address.
6 :
I got myself a pre-paid credit card, because i thought that Paypal wanted to know too much. (I can always chuck it in the bin and fork out a couple of quid for a new one if it comes to it) I mean who the hell are they anyway? Their website looks like it was knocked up for fifty pence.
7 :
No, a request won't give them anything but your e-mail address. But yeah, this has scam written all over it. People who can afford to buy luxury SUVs not available in Japan go through registered brokers and shippers -- there is a lot more to the transaction than simply putting it on a boat (it's going to have to have equipment modifications done to be legal to drive in Japan, customs details are numerous, there is import duty to pay, etc.). They don't buy them off e-bay. Watch out for spoofed PayPal e-mails saying the money is in your account -- they're easy to do and very common. Wait at least 30 days from the time you transfer the money from your PayPal account into a real bank account and it's confirmed to be in there before you do anything. And good luck... Peace.
8 :
Yes you can get scammed - very easily. It happens all the time Once you send your request, they will send you a fake Paypal email linking you to a fake Paypal site, where you enter your information and you've just given your login details to the scammer who will empty your account within minutes Do not trust any emails you receive from Paypal as these are very easily spoofed. If you get anything about a payment, close the message then go to Paypal.com and login to your account. If there is no money in your account, then it was never sent no matter what that email said. Also Paypal will never ask you for tracking numbers - so any email asking you to send the tracking/shipment number before your account is credited is always a scam For a car, DO NOT accept Paypal. Have this person to an international wire transfer from their bank to your bank. That's it. It's too easy for newbies to get scammed by spoof Paypal emails and fake sites.

I would guess yes. Everything comes from Japan then goes to the US. Japan has 9 DSi consoles when we have 2... :(
2 :
To be honest, I would be a video game designer in Japan would be a could career! I definitely would do it, man!
3 :
Sounds like a great career. Being a videogame developer at blizzard would also be a good career. The reason i mention that is because every gamer wants to do that, but there are limited jobs. How many people who say they want to work at blizzard actualy end up working there? about zero. How many people work in japan as a game developer? about the same number. Can you actually become a videogame developer in japan? It is possible, but bear in mind the competition, and the fact that you are a foreigner. If you expect to be a designer with them, you will need to communicate very effectively with japanese, and be able to win people over (like you have to do with every job interview, or whatever) Realistically, I think you will have to be essentially a superstar/hotshot developer with good networking, social skills, etc. in order to attain this dream. Can you be this person? Well, you have the answer to that, not me. Good luck!
4 :
15 years ago, I tried to break into the video game industry. Video games are largely entertainment based. Meaning, fun things are what parents and people stop buying first when making decisions. The job fairs I went to never really panned out for me towards video games. Instead a very big Japanese electronics company (US Division) gave me a chance. I was hired and 6 years later, I was given another opportunity of a lifetime. I was offered a position in the Japan R&D center. The only thing was, I was working on software and systems used in professional applications. One thing I learned was that junior level engineers are rarely given a chance in Japan. I had worked 6+ years before my opportunity to transfer to Japan came. Basically, you will need experience that drives business. On top of that, hiring a gaijin in Japan costs 1.5x more than a local engineer. When in comes to hiring expats, they want someone who brings experience that will drive the growth of the business. Your technical and business skills will be the key. As far as working in Japan, it takes time to learn how things work. There are idiosyncrasies inside each company and it can be frustrating. "Yes" means "no", "no" means "no." "It is difficult" means "no chance at all gaijin." Office politics can drive you crazy and contemplate your purpose in that office. Once you get passed all that crap you can start to be productive in the office.

What is a cheap way to get to Japan from England?

What is a cheap way to get to Japan from England?
Me and my friend are planning to go to Japan for a week, by ourselves. We are quite young, but as we both want to work in Japan in the future, we are trying to use it as a learning experience. Needless to say, we don't have much money. Barely any, to be exact. Maybe £300 between us at a stretch. Possibly more depending on if we get Christmas jobs. So far, we have decided to stay in a pod hotel (even sharing one pod between us to save money) and we're thinking of riding a second tandem over land at some point, to try and save money, if there's no other option. However, it's a long way, and there's an ocean in the way too. Does anyone have any tips on how to get to Japan on barely any money? We can ride on transport using children's fares, and have a basic knowledge of the language. You may think we are crazy kinds, planning a trip for a laugh, but we genuinely want to go to Japan. Also, any ways for young people to make money would be much appreciated. Wish us luck! I don't plan to work in Japan, I plan to work part time in the UK to raise fnds for a short trip to Japan. We are aware of the size of the capsules in the capsule hotels, but we are... how should I say... "fun sized" people. We are small for our age. If need be, we can always get another capsule if worst comes to worst. They are quite cheap. It isn't that we have no money, it's that we wont have much expendable cash for luxuries, so what I'm asking is a budget, absolutely cheap, really basic way of getting to Japan for a few days, and back. I know the price of plane tickets, and to be honest, I could get that much money, if I needed to. I'm just asking if there is any other way. We both have travel documents (passports, E111 cards, etc.) so really I just need some money saving tips. Ok. Fair enough about the capsule hotel. Although i did find a flight for about £300 the other day.

You need a degree to work in Japan, so that's out. Your whole idea is flawed. A capsule room is barely big enough for one person, and I really doubt it they'd even allow two people in one unit. Food and travel costs are not cheap within the country. How are you going to enter the country ?Paper-work is checked. You can't go to Japan with no money. EDIT, there is no cheap way to go to Japan. You need to show proof of a return ticket when you enter the country. You did'nt say your age. If you're under 18, you won't be allowed into the country without an adult waiting for you. Mainly only businessmen use the capsule rooms. There would be no room to store your things.
2 :
There is nothing like "cheap way to come to Japan". You must abandon that naive idea. You need at least 500 pounds to buy an air ticket to Japan from England. You are not allowed to share a capsule hotel room with your friend. It's for one person. But if you can find a friend in Japan, you can ask her to let you stay at her house if there is any that kind person.
3 :
Swim there! x) Haha, well, I'd suggest using Expedia or Travelocity to try and get as cheap a flight as possible. Search around for cheap places to stay, try a city or maybe an inn if you want the more rural areas somewhere that's not a big-name area. Tokyo or Kyoto for instance, would be much more pricey than say Furukawa (a small but very cute town). The city or town you choose may be smaller and have less attractions than Tokyo, but it's still Japan and should entertain you. :) http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e623a.html But a trip to Japan, for just one person, can be anywhere from $3000 to $6000! So try and get some more money prior!! Wishing you the best of luck!!
4 :
You could try being an air courier (carrying documents from London to Tokyo in exchange for a cheap ticket) or flying "standby" (showing up right before the flight and not being guaranteed a seat). Call the airlines that fly London-Tokyo and see if they have standby fares. The air courier business used to be a great way to get a cheap ticket. Now it is far less common than it once was since it's so easy to scan and email documents, but there might still be some demand.

Good tips to save money if I'm going to japan in 5 yrs?

Good tips to save money if I'm going to japan in 5 yrs?
I am 12 years old. I wish to go to Japan right after getting out from high school. When I return, it will be about a year later, and then I will go to college. My age will be 17 by the time I graduate high school, as my birthday is after december. I plan on going to college after returning to America, but I am unsure about how I can do that because I need a scholarship. I will go to Japan because I am going to make my own manga, and as most people know...America isn't very familiarized with anime or manga yet. So I am going to Japan to learn their culture, how to write Japanese, and speak it of course o_o..But I need to know how to save up money until then and I was wondering if I should take any classes in college that will enhance my drawing skills...because I want to be a teacher for elementary school as a back up just in case my manga is unsuccessful..Please don't say you have 5 years don't worry about it now because if I don't then I'll worry :|

aw your cute. i remember when i was 12 and wanted to go to japan when i got out of school ^_^. lol i just went early this year though. lol. but tips on saving money? if your going on your own (or paying for your own trip) then i ticket to japan will cost atleast $1000 +. then to have fun there you should take atleast another 2 or 3 thousand. i know it sounds like alot but its really not if you think about :). just save as much money as you can and maybe ask your neighbors if they have any jobs they can give you. (or you could ask your parents) but lets not forget that when you turn 16, your able to get a job. so if you work your butt off doing that, then you should get the money you need with in a year or so (but that also depends on what kinda job you get, if you parents make you pay bills, gas money etc.) i recommend the mall. i know it sounds kinda childish to work there but i have friends that work in some store in the mall and they get 10 bucks an hour which is PERFECT is its just you (a.k.a no kids or a family to take care of lol) so if you work 5 hours you'll get 50 bucks. and 50x five days a week=$250 bucks right? 250 dollars each week. by the end of the month (which normally last 3 weeks) you should have 750 dollars. see how easy that was? i mean you have taxes and stuff but thats still pretty good. if you want money like NOW though, try setting up your own website or something and sell baked goods (cookies, cakes etc) i know a girl that did that and she made some pretty good money. if you want you can email me and i'll give you some good home made recipes (because nobody wants to buy something you can get right out of the box lol)

Interesting idea. My advice to you will be don't obsess with this and finish your studies. When you are old enough you can work, save some money and then visit Japan.

this sounds like me!!! but im 14 :) well they have things online to help drawing that's how i draw sooo awesome like lol (my skills kill) but i don't think you could save as much ass you want well bet a bank account lol get you parents to help you save so you wont be tempted to spend it and when you get a job when your older put pieces of your paycheck into it but not ot much of it about 20-50$ of it and then you'll be there n a minute :)

Which is a better way to celebrate an 18th birthday? Go to Japan or have an elaborate birthday party?
My birthday is in a few months and I've already planned a birthday party that's going to cost costing me a few grand.(It's kinda like a sweet 16 party for someone turning 18) I also realized I could cancel my party and go to Japan instead. If I decided to cancel my bday party can I get my deposits back? If I decide to go ahead with the party is it possible to make money to get to Japan for another time? How much is it for a 2 week vacation in Japan?

Have a party. You can go to Japan, anytime you want in the future slash you can save up. But you'll have only one 18th birthday part. Plus in places like New Zealand you can legally buy alcohol..
2 :
You should definitely take advantage of your legal status on your 18th birthday. You and a bunch of friends should drive to the beach (if there is one in you area) and party until the dawn. Just make sure you have food, drinks and good music to dance to. Or you could try to hit every club and bar in town (the ones you can get into anyway). If you want to keep it simple and fun then go to an arcade and have a game day with your friends.Make sure you tell your family and friends the types of gifts you want now so they will have enough time to buy them. Here are gifts ideas specifically for 18yr olds that you will probably want to ask for http://www.giftgrease.com/eighteen-year-old.html is you don't find anything you like there then here are more http://www.giftgrease.com/birthday-gift-ideas.html You should try to get as many gifts as you can after all your 18th birthday is something to celebrate. Oh yeah there is also Ribbon e-cards that make great gifts because it gives you the chance to actually choose your own gift. And there are alot of name brand items to choose from. Here are the different cards http://www.giftgrease.com/ribbon-e-gift-cards.html These are just some ideas. Hope this helps.

Not really, Most game designs come from the United States; then get published by Japanese companies. My best guess for a good Japanese vidwo game job would be a software engineer to input the game design into the next generation of consoles. Best of LUCK!

In a word--infrequently. However, if they have negative opinions about someone, the Japanese are very circumspect about not showing them.
2 :
Some Japanese young women prefer to date black men (why? too much to go over here) otherwise, most of the population will look down on an a black man - if you are american, educated with a decent job, you will see less of that (versus say a Nigerian who is hustling people on the street in Roppongi). Still, your biggest issue is going to be: getting a visa to move to Japan. You could marry a Japanese and come under a spouse visa but assuming you prefer not to tie the knot early on, you will need a job. To get a job, you need a 4yr degree, an employment offer from a company in Japan and a bit of luck Cost to live per month: <assuming you have your own room, working in Japan and commuting back and forth to work, spending some time with friends and eating reasonably> expect to need about 300 thousand Yen (more is better of course) I have no clue on the demand for boxers (pro or otherwise) so cannot help there - sorry

4 :
Actually, what's stopping you from living in japan is that you need a visa to do so. It's not like moving to another state, you're trying to move to another country, and a whole different set of rules apply. Looks like the best you could do would be to get a Entertainer visa. http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/long/index.html problem is, you need to be nationally recognized to get one of those issued. Also, how's your Japanese? You know we don't speak English over here. All major documents and communication will be in Japanese. Can you find an apartment, set up your bank account, get your utilities set up, etc? You have other problems to worry about than how do the Japanese people perceive African Americans.
5 :
Boyaki nailed it. You have much more serious problems than how Japanese view blacks. Being black? That's okay. I knew this cool Jamaican guy who worked as a bartender in a bar in Roppongi. He has a visa. Don't know how he got it. Can you get one?

Well, speaking as an African-American with some limited experience of Japan, I can tell you that the LEAST of your worries is how you'll be viewed. Of course there is some racism there, but especially as an athlete you're virtually guaranteed of being to be a "knock-out" with the ladies (black wrestler Bob Sapp was a household name in Japan just a few years ago). And you don't need to worry much about the visa in the beginning. Americans get an automatic three-month tourist visa stamp upon arrival (and you can renew it just by flying out and back into the country--go hang out in Seoul for the weekend). I'm not sure about what kind of sponsorship you would need for a legitimate work visa though, but this website gives a few options: http://www.thunderguy.com/japan/topic/work-in-japan/work-visa/ And as far as money goes, I'd say have on hand a MINIMUM of 5K USD. It's not hard AT ALL to spend 100+ USD a day in Tokyo as food, transportation, and entertainment are notoriously known to QUICKLY take a toll on the wallet. The average apartment (and we're talking small) will run you about 700 USD per month plus a couple months deposit (but hopefully you can avoid having to pay the hated non-refundable "key money"). Add to that the fact that the Yen just hit a 15-year high against the dollar, so you'll need to plan your budget especially tight. But anyways, good luck!...Both in and out the ring! :)
9 :
If your a boxer I`m sure all the ladies will love you 100%. Japanese think black men are very strong (most people are scared of black men) I`m sure no one will ever say anything to your face but to tell you the truth most japanese (especially older folks) don`t like americans A place you will be popular at for sure if the CLUB.lol some young japanese people like hip-hop and try to dress gangsta.lol But what sucks is people will stare at you wherever you go, whatever you do.. So please don`t do anything crazy, it will end up on japanese news Don`t give japanese ppl another reason to dislike bases and americans living in japan. I`m a half japanese, but i look white. and people say mean things like.. go back to your country.. even my friend was like.. why dont you buy black contacts to hide your green eyes.. i speak perfect japanese with no accent, but japanese people still see me as white girl. they call me americaaー (which means american and not in a good way) I knew a half black girl that used to go to the same school, but people bullyed her way more than me.. people said such mean stuff because her skin color and hair was different. japanese people deep down they don`t like foreigners. so be prepared for the hate.. but don`t worry lots of girls will love you<3 and just remember these words: kokujin- black person (not offensive) kuronnbo- black person (offensive, disrespectul) ALSO alot of japanese people say the n word alot, but i dont think its in a disrespectful way, they just think its cool, so if someone says it, just tell them that its not cool. try not to get too offended.. HOWEVER if someone says kuronnbo.. that is really disrespectful and they probably want to start a fight. most japanese people dont know what racism is, because they`ve only been around their own race. Its not like the U.S. where everybody is mixed (mexican, irish, african, russian, chinese, philipino, korean, etc.) Japan is just one breed japanese people dont know what its like unless they go to another country and experience it so they say racist stuff (thats what i believe) Also japanese people think black men have huuuuge d*** I used to work as a prostitute, but most japanese women wont take black customers because they are to big down there.. just wanted to let you know that!! LOL Many japanes men will probably ask how big your d*** is, but dont worry theyre probably not homosexual, its just that japanese guys talk about perverted stuff all the time. so be prepared for a lot of sex talk!! ALSO be careful lots of AIDS and STDs in Japan too always use condoms and be careful and i hope to see you on TV oneday.. even though i don`t know your name!! haha good luck!! if you ever need help with anything saramaehara@yahoo.com contact me whenever!! I hope i didn`t offend nobody. I just want to share the facts and what REAL LIFE in Japan is like.

With the us dollar so low against nearly all currencies why does it continue to do well against the Yen?

With the us dollar so low against nearly all currencies why does it continue to do well against the Yen?
I don't understand the strength of the dollar against the yen. How come it does so well against the yen? Is it the fact they have low interest rates in japan? I am making money in the stock market, but am finding that I am making more dollars that are worth less v other currencies. Any opinions on just buying yen and betting they'll appreciate against the dollar or the yen's weakeness some sort of statistical or mathematical imbalance/anamoly. I doubt that...just wondering what the math whizzes think about it.

there are two strategies... when one currency going up and other going down... 1. If one conuntry's economy no good its currency going down....aginst others... 2. If both countries not doing well , it does not make big difference... Not only yen but swiss franc is also weak aginst U.S. At this time, Canada, India, china , european economy is excellent.....so thats why big difference between U.S $...
2 :
The yen has the lowest interest rates, so many global investors borrow in yen (having to pay almost no interest) and invest in other higher-yielding currencies and asset classes -- the so-called "carry trade." Thus, the yen is being sold very heavily around the world. Meanwhile, US Treasuries are still considered by many to be the safest securities in the world, so many investors (including sovereign states) make a nice, safe yield differential in USD/JPY. There are two relevant factors when it comes to currency valuations: interest-rates and purchasing power. Trends persist far longer than most people anticipate, so I wouldn't jump into the yen until it actually reverses. You could be waiting for a while. But I agree, the yen is due for a rebound, and when that happens, you're going to see a nasty fallout in almost all asset classes. I would also say that USD is due for a rebound. A statistical analysis might find the euro to be overvalued, if anything.

How can America help Japan if America is in debt financially?

isn't it a little stupid for America to make people send money for help when America is in this recession?

The US is providing assistance mostly in the form of direct aid provided by the US military already stationed in Japan. I don't know of any other mandatory contributions US citizens are being forced to make. The global economy is so interlinked that a disaster in one nation has a direct effect on nearly all other nations. Japan has the third largest economy in the world and contributes a large share of the world's GDP. In this case, helping Japan is only helping ourselves too in that it will speed the resumption of normal economic activity. That aside and most importantly, Japan is inhabited by human beings who need help. Anyone with morals would see the need to offer assistance in any way possible. Some things are simply more important than money ( a lot of things actually!). The Japanese government DID offer and provide assistance to the US for the Katrina disaster in New Orleans. Japan's public debt is more than twice that of the US's in percentage of GDP terms. I say we owe them one.
2 :
The U.S. government will probably send rescue aid via the military and through other means. The Obama-led government will just print more money and devalue the dollar like they have been and not worry about it even though we are headed towards an economic catastrophe if this continues.
3 :
Isn't it also a little stupid that a 600 dollar accessory, called the Ipad 2, sells out the weekend it comes out, right when this happens? People do have money they clearly don't need for themselves. Not everyone is in this situation. But there are plenty of people who have money to spend. 270 million dollars spent for an accessory in one weekend I think proves that.

Technically, if you're on a working visa, you can only have one job. Therefore, no you aren't legally allowed to do it. However, no one will probably know and you won't have any problems if you do this.
2 :
The JET contract states that you cannot get paid for doing private lessons, so you are not allowed to give private lessons because it would violate your contract. Some Boards of Education organize evening eikaiwa classes for adults or tutoring for kids outside of the JET's regular working hours, but rather than getting paid for such lessons you get vacation time equal to your evening lesson hours. Some versions of the JET contract say that if you have special permission from the Board of Education or your school you can give paid private lessons, but it is highly unlikely that you would be granted such permission. However, JETs get paid more and have better benefits than most other ALTs.
3 :
The people above are exactly right; technically no, you can't. But most of the JETs in my area do have private lessons. There are many benefits to teaching private, not just the money, so they have a lot going for them.

Electronic devices in Japan and other related questions?

Electronic devices in Japan and other related questions?
Hi :) I'm going to Japan on Wednesday and I wanted to know what was the voltage for electronic devices, such as the charger for the cellphone and cd players which are 220 ~ 240 v. in my case. Am I gonna be able to use them of should I buy adapters? In that case, of what voltage? Another thing that I wanted to know was how expensive are cellphones (I don't want the newst stuff, just a regular cell) in Japan, are there many cyber cafes, how much is a laptop (again, not the newest thing, I'm not going to make much money in a obento factory...) and internet for the laptop? Thanks in advance, sorry if I asked too many questions!
Japan - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
voltages in japan is 100-110.yes you will be needing an adapt or for your cell and CD player. cellphones in japan have different prices depending on the style you can check the docomo, soft bank,Au stores for what type of cellphone do you like.the cell phone in japan are lined.they are prepaid phones but the rates are more expensive than the lined one. laptop is ranged to 100,000 above depends on the maker. you can check the electronics store for more details. they are lots of cyber cafe in japan it is usually called "mangga kissita" or "mangga cafe" Internet? fastest and the cheapest i know is Thru land line phones.you can check NTT. in that case you should get a land line phone first. they will give you a device that you will connect to the USB and to the land lined phone. by the way to get all of this you should show them your alien registration and certificate of residence or "juminghiyo"
2 :
I know nothing about cellphone / cyber cafes / laptop costs, but we had to buy a converter for my son's PS2 (UK version) while he was here in Japan with us. It still has the price ticket on it - Â¥7320!! It might pay you to look around before you come to Japan, it isn't a simple adaptor though - don't ever think it is - you need something that can raise the voltage from 100v to the required 220~240. Do you know what a Japanese plug looks like? http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2225.html You might need a normal 'adaptor plug' so that you can plug in your converter! You need a converter with an input that covers 100v, and an output including 220~240v. Ours is made by a company called Swallow, if you buy one when you're here, and it's called the Trans pal AG-120. We bought it from Yodobashi camera (ヨドバシカメラ.) This was the cheapest one we could find - about 2 years ago - and you can't plug a UK 3 pin plug directly into it, you need an adaptor to make a 3 pin UK plug work in a 2 round pin socket - type C on this page; http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm#plugs Now you see why I recommend that you investigate BEFORE you leave home!! Not only is it ridiculously complicated, but the instructions are all written in Japanese too...!! ; ) (Not surprising, but not helpful!! They're designed for Japanese people who buy electrical goods in other countries and bring them back to Japan.) The insulting thing IS, that the converter that you pay so much for is going to increase the voltage to the UK / Europe voltage - just so that the charger's built in adaptor can convert it to a lower voltage and charge the CD player!! That's what USUALLY happens anyway! If the adaptor is built into the charger - you'll know this because it will either have an unnecessarily large plug or it will have a box somewhere along the flex - maybe you should add details of your product, make and model number, and someone might be able to check and see if you can buy a Japanese charger for it here. It's a bit of a long shot though. BTW, cellphones from other countries only work here if they're quad band - or something like that. Anything else will just say there's no signal. Tri band will work ONLY if it doesn't have the 2 different US frequencies. Make sure before you come, because your provider is only out to take your money, and frankly they don't know what they're talking about half the time - which is why our recent house-guest was told by O2 that his phone WOULD work in Japan, even though it obviously DIDN'T!
3 :
You can easily get a free cell phone from any of the major providers. Just make sure to get your Alien registration card and Work Visa straight before you try to sign up for a plan. Cell phone rentals are almost always terrible deals.
4 :
As for cell phone, you won't be able to find second hand market in Japan (it is small market). Pre-paid phone is cheap. If you wanna buy one, you better buy at the airport. I think tourist can purchase with your passport. Vodafone shop is on 1st floor in the Terminal 1 or B1(basement 1st) floor in Terminal 2 of Narita Airport. Once you entered the city, you need ID with domestic adress (usually ppl show alien registration card) to buy. Maybe this is for security reason (criminals tend to use cells). In some Asian countries, tourist can purchase prepaid card at only airport. As for voltage, Japan is just 100V, not 100-110V. It is said Taiwan and US products work, cos they use 110V. However, ppl say the products go to the dogs (die) easily.

Why do Americans come to Japan to "teach" English?

Why do Americans come to Japan to "teach" English?
Despite the fact that most of them have no discipline in teaching. Despite the fact that most of them cannot speak Japanese. Despite the fact that most of them are not respected by the Japanese public. It is totally wrong if you think you can make easy money in Japan. Hey annsiha, 1) Don't send wrong information to others. The sentence you have shamelessly quoted must have come from your student. 2) Why do you react so hysterically to a criticism about Americans? Behave yourself and be more humble. 3) I lived in the U.S. for 4 years and I love America. I am not a racist. I just want you to face the reality if you are really serious about what you are talking about.

this way americans can get closer to japan and become close in all aspects you can it is an american tactic
2 :
The Ministry of Education used to send Japanese teachers abroad to develop their English skills, but the majority of those teachers liked living abroad so much that they never came back to Japan. Next, they tried hiring foreigners who were certified teachers to come to Japan and teach, but those foreigners were so dismayed by the sorry state of education in Japan that they bolted or put up a big fuss and couldn't get along with the Japanese teachers and bureaucracy. They tried looking for foreigners who can speak Japanese, but most of them are otaku who were more interested in speaking Japanese and practicing Japanese culture than they were in teaching English or about Western culture. Really, their only choice was to offer high salaries to uncertified foreigners to come to Japan. Japanese people are too racist to take English lessons from other Asians. If the Japanese public disrespects English-teaching foreigners so much, why are they handing over their cash in droves to take lessons from them? Perhaps you dislike the situation, but you cannot argue factually that "It is totally wrong if you think you can make easy money in Japan" because many foreigners are doing EXACTLY that and having a good time too. Did an English teacher sleep with your girlfriend or something?
3 :
i agree with you..but many people want to live here and learn the language and learn more about the culture and the only chance they have is to teach English.as for me,I met My wife in London and she had to come back to Japan.so i had to come here..and with the fact that i am not fluent in all aspects of Japanese then that only leaves me with teaching English(which i`d rather not do.)
4 :
Hey Area52 why do you single out "Americans". There are many British, Australian, Canadians etc that do the EXACT same thing. In fact, its easier for them because they can get "Working Holiday Visas" whists Americans cannot get working holiday visas. So maybe you should do some "fact" checking yourself. To get a Working Holiday Visa you don't need a Bachelors Degree. Whists Americans who can't get Working Holiday Visas, have to get real full "Work Visas" which require's a University Degree. -"Teaching" English requires no skills in actual teaching. Have you ever taught at any of these companies? If not, then you know jack what you're talking about. Some of the big companies put teachers through their training course. I know someone with a degree in Journalism and he works as an Electrical Engineer, as long as you're trained to do something it doesn't matter. English "teaching" doesn't require a discipline in teaching, it just requires you to follow the company handbook. If they wanted teaching qualifications they can easily make it a requirement, but they don't. So it has nothing to do with the person but the people hiring. -You don't need to speak Japanese to teach English. -I don't know where you get your facts that they don't get respected by the Japanese public. If the Japanese disrespected them why pay good money for them. If they didn't want them around these schools wouldn't exist. Hell, many English teachers get paid more then the Japanese clerical staff at the office. Sometimes they are paid even more then real deal Japanese teachers at schools. But again, Canadians, Australians, British, hell even German, French etc come to teach language. So again I don't know why you single out Americans when there are people of many nationalities who with the same exact points you mentioned. Don't get me wrong, I see a bunch of "teachers" of all nationalities who are dummies. But if thats what they want to do, I can't change their minds.
5 :
I actually find it quite amusing that Americans are teaching English in other countries and they can barely speak it themselves and can certainly not spell...... So actually feel sorry for the Japanese students they are suppose to be teaching.... If you want to learn English, learn from an English speaking person....if you want to learn American...learn from and American
6 :
It is really ridiculous, isn't it! How can someone teach who doesn't even speak one foreign language? No ideas about languages, origins of words etc. Yeah, and then coming here, making no effort to learn Japanese, no effort understanding the culture, and behaving like barbarians. They shouldn't give out visas so easily anymore! And because of all this, Japanese students are wasting money to learn nothing! Besides the salaries aren't even great here for a teacher! So, it is just a waste of their time and our time!
7 :
Well, you get payed good and you're teaching your native language so it's very easy to teach. If such job is open, I think anybody would go for it unless they can find better jobs.
8 :
Because there's a demand. Japanese official English education is not good to learn speaking English. And I guess they know the job doesn't make much money don't they ? If I hear there's a big demand of learning Japanese somewhere that seems fun,I would be interested even if I didn't know much of the language and culture. I think I would make an effort to respect their culture if I went there though. What motivates them does not matter so much as long as they finally try to fit themselves in the society and do the best in their jobs.
9 :
konnichiwa! I don't agree with you totally, but I have some thoughts to tell you regarding "Teaching English". At my working place, I speak with regular people around the world on the phone almost everyday, then I find that especially some Americans are appallingly ignorant. (e.g. what is WHO, CHANNEL, where does UN locate etc...) That's common knowledge isn't it!? People at my working place usually speak 3-4 languages, they have vast knowledge. They would be a good teacher, but then some American teachers without common knowledge? I never been to English schools in Japan. I think it doesn't bring you anywhere, it 's just wasting my time and money. Sayonara : )
10 :
I agree that many people do come to Japan to teach English without having discipline in teaching- something that is ridiculous. Some background really ought to be necessary. As for not speaking Japanese, well, I think it greatly reduces opportunities and will create difficulties, but assuming the person is teaching a high enough level, it is not necessary for them to know Japanese (just as it isn't necessary for ESL teachers in the U.S. to know the languages of the advanced students they teach). As for respect from the Japanese public, well, that doesn't seem to be a problem with the Americans so much as with the Japanese. From what I know (and I don't claim to know much), it is rather easy to make money in Japan; it's much harder to make long-term money, given how foreign teachers are often bounced away and not given long-term contracts. You might remember that the JET Program is also somewhat responsible for sending over non-Japanese-speaking, non-teachers to teach English; the Japanese government is involved in this.

I was recently thinking of donating money to Japan after their disaster. However, I realized that promoting peace in the world is more important to me (dont get me wrong, I SYMPATHIZE WITH THE JAPANESE), but I feel like world peace is an extremely important thing to our future. How can I help Japan without actually donating money?

How can I help Japan without actually donating money?
I'd like to donate money, but I don't have any, and even for the short amounts of time that I DO have money, it's not very much and I need to use it for things like lunch at school. My dad plans on donating some, but I'd like to help, too. I don't really think that my parents donating their money counts for me, because, as I said, it's THEIR money. Part of the reason I really want to help is because a lot of my favorite TV shows and stuff were created in Japan (comic books/manga and anime). I live in Austin, Texas. I'm pretty sure that the part I live in is the northwest part, but I'm not sure, as I suck at that sort of thing. I guess I'm thinking some kind of volunteer organization, one that accepts minor volunteers. I'm Googling it, also, but I thought I'd ask for help. And no religious organizations, please (considering that it IS the conservative part of Austin, I figured there'd be a few of those around here), as they're most likely Christian, and that would make things quite awkward. I can donate stuff, though. Like maybe toiletries, bottles and toys for the child and baby victims, and recreational stuff for the teenagers and adults (drawing pads or puzzles or something. I've got like 15 1000 piece puzzles that I'll never use. Not an exaggeration there. I really want to donate recreational stuff because I think that it's very important to be able to laugh and have fun, especially in a situation like this). I don't know. I'll probably end up making a list of things I can donate. A place I can bring this stuff to, or a website with an address I can send it to, would be great. And, of course, a place where I can go to help that will let me. Thanks. I'm not cheap, I just have to use my money for things that I need. Millo: I'm not Christian. I told you that. *laughs* jenna: if I was there, I'd still want tampons and ibuprofen when I got my period. And I'm sure that there is some kind of program that I can go to, like putting together bags of things like blankets and water bottles.

It sounds like you're in junior high or high school, so it's not likely that you have a job. So it's not a big deal that you don't have money. I love your concern and eagerness to help, that's what counts. Unfortunately right now, those people don't have any homes, food, water, cars- any of the essentials that people need to survive. So they really don't have the need for puzzles and toys right now until they can get some of the mess figured out and some stable shelters and food for people. But in 6 months to a year that would be a great idea to donate those things of yours. You could probably contact the Red Cross near you about that. You won't be able to actually go to Japan and volunteer your time as you are underage, and they need professionals trained in disaster right now. But you could set up a fund raiser to earn money, walk around to your neighbors and ask if they would like to donate, ask fellow students, ask people outside the grocery store and then donate all the proceeds to the Red Cross or another organization that is active there right now. It's great that you care, I hope you can make a small difference!
4 :
Why do people feel so tormented if they can't afford to donate/help? if you can't donate/help don't panic or lose sleep over this as Japan is a developed country and the people are well catered for. The people will not die of hunger
5 :
You can try to befriend someone online who lives there or near there and listen to what they have to say. Mental health in Japan is a growing issue, they don't have much there. As with anyone and anywhere. People need a sympathetic ear and encouragement and a laugh. You can be a distraction to the person from their woes. This way gives a personal touch to your assistance. And you may find a friend. Just be careful, you don't know who you are talking to. Good luck

How much more money would I make if I learned a foreign language or 2?

How much more money would I make if I learned a foreign language or 2?
I can Speak, Write, and Read in both English and Spanish perfectly well. However, I have been very interested in learning a foreign language. I am currently studying Japanese, I have just completed my Japanese 101 class not too long ago in college, and I look forward to be able to go to Japan and speak to people there. I hope in 6 years that I can be fluent just like a normal everyday Japanese person....I have also been interested in learning Mandarin Chinese and Korean, but maybe I shouldn't get into it that much....I do however hope to also learn how to read and write Traditional Chinese..... my question is...how much more money will someone make if he/she speaks 2 or more languages? what about 3? 4? It's okay even an estimate is fine.... what is an estimate?

There are some jobs that require a specific language ability, but the way you have to approach it is that in many cases knowing foreign languages will get you a job over someone who only knows one. SO it becomes job versus no job and that's hard to put a monetary value on.

Ofcourse there's always teaching English... Perhaps you should re-write your question specific to the qualifications you have...? Hmmm... I know there's a lot of money to be made in hostessing too (and that's not with 'other favours' - just 'friendly' bar work)... So you could really go anywhere from here!!! ;)

Yeah, it would be helpful to know your qualifications - for example, without at least a Bachelor's degree, you can't work in either of these countries legally, which means you'd be working for dodgy operations if you could get a job at all, and spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars every couple of months on visa runs! The best paying jobs involve getting hired at home and then being sent abroad -- you'll get your usual salary, plus 'hardship pay', plus lots of extras like housing, cars, maids, etc. Uncle Sam has decided to start taxing all these things, so not as cush as it used to be. Under that - working as a diplomat. Under that - English teaching, freelance photography, writing, DJ, hostess, etc -- you're probably gonna top out at a thousand US a month, unless you really know what you're doing or can learn really fast. You'd be burning through cash fast in Japan, but could survive on a thou a month in China. There are millions of people in China that can speak pretty decent English and are happy to work for 500 US dollars a month or less -- top-notch engineers that can speak 2 languages fluently might make a bit more than a grand a month -- I guess what I'm saying is you've really got to bring something to the table if you expect to make dough -- at home or abroad. However, it's relatively easy to make enough to pay the rent and buy rice - and lots of Americans are doing that; using the low costs here to follow a dream of some kind - music, writing, art, etc. Just don't expect to put much - or any - cash in the savings account.

if you work with the JET programme, you can get some decent money. but otherwise, teaching english in Japan may not get you far. other options would be IT, medicine, local government, or else other english teaching related work, such as making textbooks.

The world wide opening date of Sivaji the Boss is 6/15, that is, except for Japan. That info was here: http://www.rajini.jp/ I also checked theaters, and message boards, but there is no news of where it is, or even if it is opening in Japan at all. Sorry.

It is a tamil language film. Unfortunately this film won't be released in Japan. You won't be able to find any detail of this film in any theater in Japan.

It later appeared that another song sequence was set to be held in Japan, as Rajinikanth had a huge fan following there, but the idea eventually did not happen.[65] Various stages of filming carried on throughout the end of the year. In January, 2007, Sify.com interviewed Shriya Saran, who revealed her role was called Tamizh and she appeared in punjabis and traditional Indian clothing throughout the film.[66] During the post-production, the dubbing of voices took place and as Shriya Saran was not a natural Tamil speaker, a dubbing artiste was to be selected. Shankar first zeroed in on Sandhya,[67] another popular actress who was introduced under Shankar's production to dub for the lead female role however she was soon replaced by another actress, Kanika Subramaniam, who at the time was offer-less.[68] A popular film distributor, Subbu Arunachalam dubbed for Suman's character.[69] Recently as of March 2007, sources revealed that Rajinikanth for a song sequences dressed up as the thespians of Tamil cinema, M. G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan, while for the simultaneous Telugu language dubbed version he dressed up as Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Chiranjeevi.[70].
