I'm not sure about lawyers' salary in Japan but in the USA, lawyers, especially corporate lawyers, typically make 6 figures a year. But being a lawyer isn't just about money, it's about believing in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and helping those who are unable to help themselves. Corporate law is very seldom interesting and you never get that feeling of actually "helping" somebody and that's what the law is all about.
