If our govt sends money to Japan, why is everyone asking citizens to send money?
I never send money to these causes because I feel my family has little for ourselves and we just scrape by and we work very hard or what little we have. But, it makes me feel bad that we can't send money. Why not just have the govt send money and stop asking at the grocery store, on TV, online, etc..

Well, if the U.S. sent $300 million in aid, it would be a dollar for every person in the country. Perhaps some of them would like to do more, considering the scope of the disaster. So they do.

Why not just mind your own business, like if you don't want to send money and take care of your family, do so.

it's strictly voluntary, don't worry about it. If you don't have any to donate, don't. Stop guilt tripping on Yahoo to make yourself feel better. If someone else want to help, stop being negative about it, like you think they shouldn't.

If you don't have it and feel their pain, you have donated. The veterans stadium down the road collected over $40,000 in a couple days. Don't feel bad, your thoughts are important if that's what you got to offer. The ones that should feel bad are the ones stupid enough to bring up Pearl Harbor.

Wait until Japan starts cashing out the huge amounts of money they have invested in our T-bills to pay for there mess - should be very interesting - we might feel like a wave washed over us.

Don't feel bad. You can only do what you can do. How much would you send if you could? My wife and I gave money to the American Red Cross. I'll match it.

my country is not sending any money (eg. they are not matching donations). just disaster response teams and aid. Japan has the third largest economy in the world!
